Is it a must to invite the spouse of a co worker to a wedding even when you have never met them?

Q. You work with someone and you see them everyday and wish to invite them to your wedding. Problem is money and space at the wedding. I would perfer not to invite the spouse, but do not wish to be rude.
What if you invited a group of girls from the office, on a posted invitation. Must you include the spouses then?

A. I totally understand the feeling, but I think I read in Dear Abby that you have to; I just checked, Emily Post says the same thing. The idea is a couple is a "set," you can't invite one without the other.

Is it possible that my fiance cares too much about the wedding?
Q. It seems that every bride has the issue with their groom not caring enough about the wedding. My problem is the opposite, Im not super picky or controlling, I think I'm just different. I have all of these "wonderful" ideas and whenever I mention them to my fiance, he does not like them! I thought the man was just supposed to show up ;) really though, it's the day that I've been dreaming about!!! How do I satisfy my dream day?

A. It is his dream day too. Times are changing. Grooms can and do take an interest in the wedding. It is one of the most important days in his life. He has just as much say in it as you do.
